Hyderabad: National Founding President Bairi Venkatesham has demanded that the Congress party allocate Municipal Councillor and Chairman tickets to candidates belonging to the 57 Most Backward Scheduled Caste (MBSC) communities, in accordance with SC categorisation, in the upcoming municipal elections.

Speaking at a meeting held in Hyderabad on Friday, he urged TPCC President Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud to issue clear instructions to all constituency in-charges in this regard. He recalled that during the previous Assembly elections, the 57 MBSC communities extended complete support to the Congress party and played a significant role in its victory. He also noted that the 57 MBSC Communities Rights Struggle Committee actively supported the government in the implementation of SC categorisation.

Venkatesham warned that if tickets are once again allotted only to financially strong candidates under the guise of surveys, the MBSC communities would not remain silent. He demanded that at least 30 percent of the seats reserved for Scheduled Castes, including Municipal Councillor and Chairman posts, be allocated to SC sub-castes.

Leaders of the 57 MBSC Communities Rights Struggle Committee, including Upadesa Sanadhan, Battula Pandu, and Bobbili Ramesh, were present at the meeting.
