TDF Launches Anti-Drugs Cricket Tournament in Siricilla

The Telangana Development Forum (TDF), in collaboration with TDF-Canada and the Telangana State Narcotics Bureau (TS-NAB), launched an “Anti-Drugs Awareness Cricket Tournament” today for young people in the villages of Siricilla district.

Aiming to Tackle Drug Abuse Through Sports

This cricket league aims to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs among rural youth and encourage them to participate in positive activities like sports, arts, and culture. The league was officially inaugurated by TDF Canada member Vikram and TDF India President Matta Rajeshwar Reddy at Mandepally village in Siricilla district.

TDF’s Commitment to a Drug-Free Telangana

The cricket tournament is part of TDF’s “Arogyaseva” health service project, which works towards creating a drug-free Telangana. TDF India President Matta Rajeshwar Reddy emphasized that the project aims to achieve this goal by organizing more sports and cultural programs for the state’s youth.

Collaboration and Recognition

Vikram, representing TDF Canada, interacted with the cricket players and highlighted TDF Canada’s role in supporting Telangana’s development and combating drug abuse within the state. Pavan Kondam from TDF Canada also played a key role in organizing the event, and his efforts were acknowledged by Vikram.

Tournament Details and Support

The tournament manager, Chandu, announced that 50 teams from various villages will participate in the 15-day-long cricket tournament. Sandeep Sandilya, director of TS-NAB, expressed his appreciation for TDF’s initiative and pledged to offer necessary support. TS-NAB will also be providing certificates to the players as part of its anti-drug awareness efforts.

Looking Forward: Engaging Youth in Positive Activities

TDF India President Matta Rajeshwar Reddy reiterated the organization’s commitment to conducting more such programs. These initiatives aim to steer young people away from drugs by engaging them in healthy and constructive activities like sports and cultural pursuits.
