Joyful and Enthusiastic: ATA Summer Picnic Celebrations

A vibrant gathering of Telugu families in Washington, D.C.

  Washington D.C:  The American Telugu Association (ATA) organized a grand Summer Picnic at Damascus Recreational Park in Maryland, located in the Washington D.C. metro area. The event was filled with joy and excitement, drawing over 600 Telugu attendees from Maryland, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia. Children, adults, and senior citizens visiting from India all took part in the festivities and enjoyed the lively atmosphere.

The picnic featured a variety of sports competitions, entertainment programs, and delicious food that made the event even more enjoyable. Activities like Bingo, Lemon Spoon Race, Frisbee, Tug of War, Volleyball, Throwball, and Kho-Kho were organized. There were also mehndi (henna) designs, magic shows, music, and dance performances, all contributing to a festive vibe. Raffle draws were conducted, and prizes were awarded to the winners.

In a humanitarian gesture, a food drive was also conducted as part of the picnic. Attendees generously donated non-perishable food items, which were contributed to the Manna Food Center.

Under the leadership of ATA President Jayant Challa, the event was successfully coordinated by RCs Parth Baireddy, Krishna Reddy, Zeenath Reddy, trustees Sridhar Bhanala, Vishnu Madhavaram, former presidents Bhuvanesh Bhujala, Sudheer Damidi, Satish Vaddi, Ravi Challa, Venu Nakshatram, Ramesh Bheemreddy, Amar Pashya, and others.

Jayant Challa also announced that the next ATA Convention will be held from July 31 to August 2, 2026, at the Baltimore Convention Center. This will be the first-ever ATA convention hosted in the Washington D.C. area. Former president Bhuvanesh Bhujala urged the community to begin preparations early to ensure the success of the convention.

ATA expressed heartfelt gratitude to all organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and the families who attended. The organizers also stated that more such cultural and social programs will be planned in the future.
