Washington DC: The Telangana Development Forum – DC (TDF-DC) hosted its 20th Bathukamma and Dasara celebrations on Sunday at John Champe High School in Aldie with great grandeur. This festival, which has been celebrated in the U.S. for two decades without interruption, drew thousands of Telugu people and locals who enjoyed the rich cultural traditions of Telangana.
Padma Bhushan awardee and renowned singer K.S. Chithra graced the event as the chief guest, adding a special charm to the celebrations. Folk singer Biksu Naik enthralled the audience with his soulful performances.
The stage came alive with colorful Bathukamma displays, folk dances, traditional songs, and Dasara festivities. Under the leadership of Cultural Secretary Manjula Maddikunta, women, children, and youth showcased their talents and captivated the gathering. The Bathukamma teaser crafted by Avantika Nakshatram impressed everyone.
The event was coordinated by conveners Manjusha Nampalli and Rudra Bhim Reddy, with former presidents Kavitha Challa, Vinaya Surineni, and Kalpana Boyinapalli serving as advisors.
Adding to the festive spirit, thousands of families enjoyed a free community feast arranged by local restaurants, strengthening the sense of togetherness. Many attendees expressed their emotional pride at witnessing such a grand celebration of Telangana’s traditions in the U.S.
TDF-USA representatives extended their gratitude to sponsors, volunteers, and community members for making the event a success. They also reaffirmed their commitment to organizing more cultural programs in the future to serve the community.
